IB MYP Workshop with Our Parents

UN Schools hosted the parents in the classrooms. Our institution aims to raise dynamic generations that can build bridges between the past and the present within the framework of intercultural understanding and respect. The MYP is part of our educational model and while explaining this programme to our parents, we constructed the content separately for all grade levels.

For our 5th grade and preparatory class parents, who have started our school this year, we started our workshop explaining the “inquiry methods and techniques”, “ATL skills” and “the IB Learner Profile” that we use in our classes and that are the essential elements of MYP. Our parents experienced the educational model that their children are exposed to for a whole day and we received positive feedback from them regarding how they can support the students at home

For our 6th grade parents we prepared a workshop with the focus of “Projects.” In this programme we shared detailed information on the “Project cycle”, “the stages and evaluation criteria of the projects.” At the end of the day we distributed the forms “reflective thinking” and “two stars a wish” to our parents. We asked them to evaluate the workshop and in the form “two stars a wish” they were asked to write the best parts of the activity and their outcomes and also their suggestions fort he future as their wish.

For our 9th grade parents we carried out an informative presentation on the Diploma Programme. The aim of the presentation was tos hare the philosophy, aims, limitations and advantages of the Diploma Programme. Our parents were rather interested in and curious about this educational programme that will shape the future of their children. With this presentation the gains of the students at NUN Girls and Boys Schools with MYP and consequently with DP were put forward clearly. At the end of the activity there was a question – answer session and we had the opportunity to explain every point the parents wanted to know about the system.
