NUN Children Workshops!

Children spent their semester break full of art and science and fun thanks to NUN Children Workshops.
Between January 30th – February 3rd, our workshop started with science activities, continues with astronomy and right after lunch, they worked on art and ecology. Children aged 5 to 12 were invited to our workshop conducted with the contributions of Usturlab Atölye. Children are classified according to their age in order to have more productive classes and in-class integrity.
The classes are designed with very interesting experiments and activities that made knowledge fun for children. In science studies, they studied the anatomy of the human body and looked closely at atoms and elements to try to understand the chemistry of nature. They realize that by knowing the pioneer scientists, they learnt many solutions that are sought in everyday life, such as vacuuming food or salting snowy roads. It is discovered that science can always be confronting that it is in life, not just in the laboratory.

In our art workshops, we learned about the artistic vision of prehistoric civilizations and met geometric designs in Turkish Islamic art, and they met miniatures. Inspired by Van Gogh and Andy Warhol, who are the pioneers of modern painting art, they produced their own works.
In children's astronomy classes, they observed the sun and similar stars by observing them at the observatory of the school. Having familiarized with the star cluster and constellations, they made hand planetarium, skulls, and other interesting activities and found themselves in space studies.
The last part of the program, ecological studies, reminded them of their responsibilities for all life and the future. Children recognized nature by examining microscopic specimens of the species they have discovered and collected in close proximity to different ecosystems.
