Debate Competition: Space Law

Guided by the Science and Turkish departments, the fourth annual Space Law Debate Competition for 6th‑grade students was held. Integrating theoretical knowledge from astronomy lessons with ethical and societal discussions, the event aimed to strengthen students’ evidence‑based reasoning and argumentation skills.
Debate topics included issues such as restrictions on satellite launches by private companies and questions of legal responsibility in cases involving errors made by AI‑powered vehicles. Students supported their claims with academic sources, analyzed counterarguments, and presented their views in line with principles of meaningful dialogue. The process reinforced critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork.
Ultimately, the competition sought to help students gain a legal and ethical perspective on scientific developments and prepare them to become thoughtful individuals in a rapidly evolving technological world.
