A CLOSE LOOK AT ISTANBUL CULTURE: EYUP-BALAT TRIP
A CLOSE LOOK AT ISTANBUL CULTURE: EYUP-BALAT TRIP

The Eyüp trip, which we organized in order to instill the culture of Istanbul to our students and to introduce the basic dynamics of a civilization to our students, was held with intense participation.
Our Istanbul tours cover a five-year plan. We aim to go to a district of Istanbul every year with our students and give them basic information about Eastern and Western civilizations. Since the spiritual architects of the conquest of Istanbul were there, our first stop was Eyüpsultan.
Our first stop was Balat, one of the districts where multiculturalism and tolerance emerged during the Ottoman period. Here, the Fener Greek Patriarchate, which continues to exist with the permit given to the Orthodox church by Mehmed the Conqueror, was visited. Interesting and important information about the patriarchate was conveyed to our students.
Afterwards, we visited the Companions offices in Ayvansaray and were informed by Berra Teacher, why the Companions came in front of the walls of Istanbul and for what purpose they came here. The first martyrdom of Istanbul, Tokmak Dede, and the Conquest Martyrdom around it were told. The story of Abdul Wadud in Hagia Sophia, mentioned in Evliya Çelebi's Travel Book, was told to the students. The mosque of Defterdar Nazlı Mahmud Pasha was explained and the reason for the Divit and Pen symbol on its minaret was discussed. The interesting architecture and story of the Zal Mahmut Pasha Mosque, which is also a work of Mimar Sinan, was discussed. After the meal, they started walking towards Pierreloti Hill.
Here, the graves of Necip Fazıl and Marshal Fevzi Çakmak were visited. Mehmet Yüzücü informed the students about Necip Fazıl Kısakürek. Kaşgari Lodge and its place in Necip Fazıl's life were discussed. By explaining Pierre Loti, the children were informed that the name of this hill is Idris Mansion. The role of İdris Bitlisi in the peaceful seizure of our eastern regions during the reign of Selim I was discussed.
