Gönül Köprüleri (Bridging the Hearts) Project
“Gönül Köprüsü (Bridging the Hearts): Valuable Stories of Life” project is an initiative on the nursing home visit of grade 11 students. This project aims to promote intercultural interaction and increase mutual understanding by bringing together the younger generations with the older individuals. Students share their daily lives in interactions with nursing home residents, listen to their memories and have the opportunity to learn from each other. At the same time, students will be inspired by the experiences of older individuals, create memories with them and have a project experience that draws strength from this interaction. The “Gönül Köprüsü” project aims to enable students to develop empathy, increase their sense of social responsibility and to be inspired by the wisdom and experiences of the older generation.
Within the scope of the project, our students will prepare personal care sessions, workshops, Turkish art music concerts and poetry recitals for nursing home residents. Eleventh-grade students were taken to visit residents at the Hospice for the first project of the initiative.
