Academics in our course: We Hosted Ahmet Süruri at NUN Schools

“Academics in Our Course” activities, which we started last year to give an opportunity to our students to discuss with the academics and listen the subjects they learn at class from the experts, continues this year. Our students meet with distinguished academicians at our Beykoz Campus.
On 17.12.2018, the faculty member of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of Ibn Haldun University, Ahmet Süruri gave a lecture on the relationship between God and man during “Academics in our course” event.
During the lecture, which started on people’s questioning the universe, Ahmet Süruri gave examples of the creative perception of humanity since the ancient Greek. He said “Philosophers set off by thinking about metaphysics, nature and people First of all, the human being wondered himself, later wondered about the nature around him and then the metaphysics beyond the nature.” Süruri, explained the 255th verse of the Baccarat Sura in Qur'an, which is known as Ayat al-Kursi (The Throne Verse) in public and gave information about the attributes of God.

After this verse, Sura also shared information about the verses 22 and 23 of Surah al-Hashr and shared with students the meanings of the attributes of God. Underlining that the reason why the uniqueness of God is emphasized in many places in the Quran is to eliminate misunderstandings of the polytheistic religions, he completed the lesson with his notes on what Sura Ihlas wants to tell.
It was a lecture of science, where our students thought about philosophy and Ilm al-kalam' understanding the importance of the emphasis on amalgamation in the Holy Quran.
