Message From Our Middle School Principal

Dear Parents,

As we step into a new academic year, I would like to convey my most heartfelt greetings to you on behalf of the entire NÛN Family. Each step our students take on campus reminds us of the profound quote from Necip Fazıl:

The time is mine and the space is entrusted to me.”

We are one big family, walking the same path toward a shared goal, with the mission of carrying this sacred trust forward.

For some of our families, this marks a brand new beginning; for others, a continuation of a cherished journey. In both cases, our common goal is to prepare our students to be well-equipped with academic achievement, morality, a sound conscience, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility.

We live in an age where information is abundant, yet the truth is elusive. As technology, artificial intelligence, and the digital world rapidly evolve, the values we must make the most space for in our hearts are rights, justice, compassion, and human dignity. For this reason, we bear the responsibility of raising a generation that does not remain silent about the persecution experienced in our geography and especially in Palestine; a generation that is troubled by the problems of the oppressed and speaks out against injustice.

These lines from Mehmet Akif Ersoy are the most beautiful expression of this stance:

My very heart burns once I see a bleeding wound,
I get whipped and kicked in sake of healing it.
Don't care and let it be!”, -I cannot, I care
I crush and be crushed till right prevails!

Because we know that “Consent to oppression is oppression itself.

I want to share the Broken Glass Theory, which holds an important place in our educational approach: If a single broken window in a building is left unfixed for a long time, it invites the remaining windows to be broken as well. The same principle applies to education. A small deficiency in a student’s behavior, discipline, or academic work can escalate into bigger problems if not addressed in a timely manner. We at school, and you at home, must act with the same sensitivity and speed to ensure that small oversights do not turn into deep wounds.

This year, we have added new aspects to our curriculum to further develop our students’ individual interests and abilities. Building on the success of last year’s initiatives, we have enriched our programs like Serbest Kürsü (Open Forum), Art is Here, Personal Exhibitions, and Individual Project. We have also brought innovative perspectives to our clubs in the fields of art, sports, and culture and developed projects to make better use of the natural amenities of our campus. To build deeper bonds and spend pleasant time with our students, we have rescheduled events like Leyl-i-NÛN and Vakt-i Maghrib.

The meaningful, productive, and collaborative time our children spend after school plays an important role in both their academic success and their journey of understanding life. Therefore, we will strive to keep the parent-teacher association strong at all times.

We hope that this new academic year will be a process through which our students develop an identity of academic achievement, self-discipline, firmness of will, and a strong Muslim stance. With the prayer of raising a generation that can use their mind, will, and spirit to say “ (no) to all the impositions of popular culture, I wish that the year 2025-2026 brings health, abundance, and peace to all of us.

On behalf of all my fellow teachers, I offer my love and respect.
