Saving, Investment and Turkish Goods Week Activities: “Handmade and Exchange Market”

Under the theme “Share Your Work, Keep Values Alive,” NÛN Schools organized the “Handmade and Exchange Market” as part of Saving, Investment, and Turkish Goods Week. This unique event replaced shopping with voluntary exchange, creating a collaborative space where students experienced production processes firsthand.
Students exchanged handmade jewelry, knitting, and crafts made at a school activity, while unused books and stationery from homes were repurposed to reinforce awareness of waste reduction. The initiative supported students in applying classroom learning to real-life situations and promoted sustainable consumption habits and efficient resource use through practical experience.
By attributing the use of local goods as a cultural value, the activity highlighted the importance of supporting local craftsmanship and solidarity. The involvement of teachers added further meaning to the event. Ultimately, this initiative fostered social cooperation, strengthened awareness of responsibility, and cultivated a sense of protecting local goods across the entire school community.
