Parent Workshop “Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond”

The NÛN Middle School Guidance & Counseling Department organized a parent workshop for grades 7 and 8 under the theme “Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond.” The workshop focused on the importance of boundaries in child and adolescent development and the psychological foundations that support this structure.
Throughout the workshop, parents explored authority in the parent‑child relationship, how authority is shaped, and the challenges families face in boundary setting—as well as the underlying dynamics. It discussed patterns of attitudes and behaviors that may emerge when boundaries are not established on a healthy basis, supported by examples. The program highlighted adolescents’ growing need for individuality and explored how healthy boundaries can be redefined during this developmental stage. Parents were offered practical strategies to balance guidance with limits while strengthening their connection with their children.
In the practical segment, an art‑therapy‑inspired activity gave parents space to reflect on their family relationships, communication styles, and how boundaries are experienced at home.
