Parent Workshop “Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond”

The Middle School Counseling Department hosted an insightful parent workshop titled "Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond," specifically designed for our 5th and 6th-grade parents. In an era where technological advancements have rendered physical boundaries increasingly transparent, the workshop explored the implications of this shift on the parent-child relationship and its reflections on family communication.
Throughout the session, the pedagogical definition of "boundaries" was examined alongside the psychological foundations necessary for establishing "secure zones" in a child’s developmental journey. The session provided a psychological analysis of the stages of authority and the common challenges parents face when setting boundaries. By evaluating behavioral patterns that may emerge in the absence of healthy boundaries, the workshop underscored the vital importance of a trust-based discipline approach within the family unit.
During the practical activities, parents engaged in an art therapy session, allowing them to reflect on their own family dynamics and relational boundaries. This blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience empowered our parents to re-evaluate their perception of boundaries and fostered the development of healthier communication models.
