NUN Meetıngs - Through A Chıld's Eyes 28 February

The February 28 is a dark period in which human rights and freedoms are suspended, people are wronged on various political excuses just because they are Muslims, and their will and right to life are ignored.
Within the scope of NUN Meetings, we hosted author and journalist Yakup Köse, who was arrested at the age of 14 and sentenced to death during the February 28 period, in order to to discuss this process. Köse talked to our students about the impact of experiencing the February 28 process as a child, going to prison and being tried with the death penalty. He mentioned that when he was in prison, he wanted to be a journalist who would write about people like him who lived through these situations.
People usually experience turning points in their old ages, but Yakup Köse, who has experienced many difficulties at a young age, shared that this process is the most significant turning point in his life.
Journalist Yakup Köse explained the "Great East" idea of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, one of the unforgettable masters of Turkish literature and poetry, and the youth he pointed to with his book "Büyük Doğu Gençliğinin Vasıfları (The Qualities of the Great Eastern Youth)", which he wrote based on the idea that he and his readers pursued throughout his life. The program ended after our students talked about their responsibilities to prevent another February 28.
