NÛN MCJ (Model Court of Justice)

The Model Court of Justice ’26 (MCJ) simulation, organized at NÛN Schools, brought together students from across Türkiye in a comprehensive international law experience. The program began with an opening ceremony, including remarks by NÛN High School Principal Ahmet Elmas, followed by speeches from MCJ presidents Sarenur Menderes, Zehra İnal, and Youla Tütüncü, as well as guest speakers Mahmud Mustafa Özdil and Prof. Dr. Akif Emre Öktem, who contributed valuable legal perspectives.

Throughout the day, participants took on roles such as prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, plaintiffs, and witnesses, simulating real courtroom processes. The cases examined included the Srebrenica Genocide during the Bosnian War, the Apartheid regime in South Africa, genocide and human rights violations in Palestine, and an original criminal law case developed by the MCJ Academy Team. During each session, students presented arguments, examined evidence, questioned witnesses, and delivered reasoned judgments. These processes fostered a realistic and intellectually rigorous courtroom atmosphere.

Following an evening social program, the event concluded with a closing ceremony where MCJ Academy Advisor Didem Aksak highlighted students’ academic maturity and sensitivity toward justice. The program ended with certificate presentations and a group photo session. Through this two-session simulation, students engaged with disciplines such as history, political science, international relations, and ethics, while significantly strengthening their argumentation, critical thinking, and multi-perspective analysis skills.
