Debate Competition

As part of Turkish lessons, Grade 6 students engaged in a lively debate on the propositions: “Digitalization enriches our language” versus “Digitalization threatens the richness of our language.” The event provided students with the opportunity to listen to opposing viewpoints respectfully, defend their ideas with evidence, and constructively challenge counterarguments.
The debate process empowered students to articulate structured thoughts, build confidence in public speaking, and communicate effectively with differing perspectives. The preparation phase and collaborative effort during the debate transformed the experience into a meaningful and supportive learning environment.
Through this activity, students strengthened their skills in argument development, critical thinking, active listening, and verbal expression, while gaining a nuanced understanding of the impact of digitalization on language.
