In the Footsteps of Wisdom and Literature: A Journey From Pera to Galata
Grade 11 students participated in a field study from Pera to Galata organized by the Turkish Language and Literature Department to explore literature, history, and urban culture through direct experience.
The itinerary included Taksim Mosque, Rumeli Han, Galatasaray High School, Aslıhan Passage, St. Anthony’s Church, the Mısır Apartment, the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Memorial House, the Galata Mevlevi Lodge, Doğan Apartment, and Galata Tower. At each location, students examined architectural, literary, and social dimensions connected to topics studied in class. Aiming to read the city through the lens of civilizational values, the visit enabled students to experience literature beyond the classroom while deepening their understanding of historical memory and cultural continuity.
