NÛN Family Academy Programs Continue

The Family Academy, organized by NÛN Schools for parents, hosted two separate gatherings in December with its holistic approach aimed at strengthening family life and communication. Experts in areas such as family communication, values transmission, and spiritual development met with parents to share profound insights.

In the first session of the month, psychiatrist and author Prof. Dr. Medaim Yanık held a seminar titled “Values and Communication in the Family” at Institute Social. He addressed the challenges faced by parenting in today's conditions, the ways in which values can be transmitted to children, and how communication dynamics within the family can be transformed into a healthy structure. Yanık drew attention to the non-apparent effects of repeated attitudes on children's behavioral development, offering parents practical, applicable suggestions. The program was enriched with examples of communication models that increase trust and stability within the family.

In the second program of the Family Academy, Prof. Dr. Ekrem Demirli met with parents in an online gathering. In his speech titled “Salat: The Manifestation of Being Muslim,” he explained the reflections of Salat (Namaz) in an individual's life, the symbolic extents of worship, and its deep relationship with the Islamic urban tradition. Demirli's presentation reinforced the idea that Namaz is not only an individual act of worship but also a powerful element that shapes social structure, behavior patterns, and cultural heritage. Thus, parents had the opportunity to gain a new perspective on the connection between worship and human behavior and spiritual discipline.

Feedback shared after both sessions showed that the Family Academy created a moment of awareness that resonates in the parents' daily lives. Participants' evaluations indicate that school-family cooperation deepened further through such gatherings.

Feedback from parents highlighted that the programs significantly contributed to raising both emotional and intellectual awareness. Some parent comments included:

  •  "In the rush of life, we forget many things and make mistakes unknowingly, and we complicate the process by personalizing these mistakes. Realizing this truly feels like medicine. These kinds of gatherings should be much more frequent; it is a truly important need."
  • "It was a great opportunity for us to meet with esteemed individuals and benefit from their knowledge. The program was flawless."
  • "What our professor shared about what a healthy family should be like was very valuable to us. It was guiding in strengthening intra-family communication and solidarity."
  • "This was an event everyone should attend."
  • "I think the topic was very beneficial. Also, the scheduling during working hours was very thoughtful."
  • "We had been following the professor with admiration. We benefit greatly from him. He offers a very valuable perspective, allowing us to evaluate the situation from completely different angles. We thank those who brought us together and our professor."

These comments clearly demonstrate that the Family Academy programs contribute to parents accompanying their children's developmental processes more consciously and knowledgeably. NÛN Schools will continue this holistic approach, supporting families throughout the year with different topics and experts.
