Academicians In The Class - About Istanbul With Volkan Levent Akgünlü

The “Academicians in the Class” program was held for the first time at the 5th-grade level. Volkan Levent Akgünlü, Education Research Programs Director at the Institute Social, spoke as our guest. The session explored Istanbul's relative location, its transformation over time and the factors behind changes were examined.
Students also contributed to the event. Our 8th-grade student Fatma Zehra A. made the opening of the program with a kanun performance, followed by a 5th-grade student Sümeyye Ada S. reciting Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’s poem, “Aziz Istanbul.”
This activity provided participants with the opportunity to assess Istanbul's spatial futures and geographical characteristics within a historical process, analyze the motivations for transformation, and build awareness of the city's identity through examples from cultural literature.
