From Tradition to the Future: Tamarind Sherbet Parent Workshop

With parent participation, the Tamarind Sherbet Workshop offered a shared experience of this treasured element of Anatolian and Ottoman culinary culture. The preparation journey of this centuries‑old traditional beverage turned into a meaningful cultural exchange.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a pleasant discussion on the historical background of tamarind, its traditional use, and its health benefits. Parents had the opportunity to prepare their own sherbet by combining tamarind with natural sweeteners and beneficial spices. During this process, the importance of healthy and natural nutrition was emphasized, while the richness of our culinary heritage was revisited.
The workshop, which attracted strong interest from parents, stood as a valuable example of collective production and of building bridges between deeply rooted traditions and contemporary life. The sherbets prepared were later shared for Iftar and Suhoor tables, extending the spirit of the workshop into daily life.
As an institution, we value exploring cultural heritage and natural living practices alongside academic development.
