Ceramics Parent Workshop
Our middle school hosted an engaging "Ceramics Workshop" for parents, providing them with an opportunity to experience the creativity and craftsmanship that their children cultivate in the school's art classes. The workshop started with an informative introduction to the art of ceramics, hand-shaping techniques and the intricate process of transforming clay into functional pieces. They learned ceramic shaping techniques: the slab technique to create a plate form, and decorating techniques to personalize their creations through painting. First, parents made their ceramic plates and then decorated their plates using the sgraffito technique. The products were left for drying. After a week passes and the ceramics are glazed the products will be baked for the second time to complete the whole process.
The event fostered a deeper connection between parents and their children, encouraging parents to engage with their children's creative pursuits.
