Author–Reader Meeting

A Thousand‑Year Journey in the Light: A Talk on Ibn al‑Haytham with Author Elif Akardaş Karataş
As part of the Science and Technology unit, Grade 6 students concluded their analytical study of “The Master of Light: Ibn al‑Haytham” with a talk led by the author Elif Akardaş Karataş. Centered on the scientific legacy of Ibn al‑Haytham, the founder of modern science, the session examined methodological contributions of the medieval Islamic world.
Guided by the author, Elif Akardaş Karataş, students explored the fine line between “looking” and “seeing” and the discipline of seeking truth. The discussion created a rich platform to reflect on scientific curiosity, intellectual rigor, and the processes behind knowledge production.
Students concluded the session by asking questions and signing books, transforming the experience into a lasting memory. Enriched by contributions from student Cihangir Ali, the meeting supported students’ development as inquisitive, research‑oriented individuals who illuminate the world through knowledge.
