We Hosted Our National Pride in Our School
The former national basketball player and the President of Turkish Basketball Federation, Hidayet Turkoglu proudly represented our country abroad for many years, and came together with our students within the scope of NUN Evening Meetings.
Hidayet Turkoglu played basketball in various NBA teams after playing in Turkey, and he shared his sportsmanship and leadership experience with our students. Turkoglu said that he started to play basketball thanks to his brother at the age of 11 and added: “I played basketball with the excitement of the first day for 25 years.” The 36-year-old basketball player, who explained the reason for leaving his active sports career is to spend more time with his family, said: “After a certain age, it is necessary to stay on the management side of the sport for both the health of the body and a good family life. That was my main reason for wanting to be president of the basketball federation. Sports is love and you can’t break up with it.” Stating that people need to do their favorite jobs in order to be happy, Turkoglu told our students, “Care your own happiness more than the happiness of others. The happier you are, the happier is your environment. I was also happy playing basketball in Bayrampaşa at the age of 11, and I was also happy to receive the award for the best developing player in the NBA. Be busy with the work that will make you happy and connect you to life according to your circumstances.” Turkoglu sincerely answered our students' questions about his career and achievements.
