Museum of Islamic Civilizations Visit

As part of the “Where We Are in Place and Time” unit, a learning trip was organized for grade 2 students to the Museum of Islamic Civilizations, located within the Çamlıca Mosque Complex. The visit aimed to help students explore firsthand the rich legacy that Islamic civilization has contributed to science, art, and faith throughout history.
During the museum tour, students examined artifacts reflecting the intellectual and artistic traditions of past eras and compared these values with contemporary notions of time and space. Their observations in the section of sacred trusts strengthened their sense of historical depth. Students recorded notes in specially prepared booklets, supporting their skills in research, data collection, and making inferences based on concrete evidence.
This experience enhanced students’ awareness of cultural heritage and strengthened their understanding of how historical developments influence today’s ways of life. By engaging directly with authentic objects and spaces, learning became multidimensional and meaningful.
