Edirne Trip

As part of the Arts unit, Grade 4 students participated in a field trip to Edirne, where they observed architectural and cultural heritage firsthand in connection with their classroom learning.
The visit began at the Selimiye Mosque, where students examined the architectural details, ornamentation, and aesthetic principles of Mimar Sinan’s masterpiece. They then visited the historic bridges over the Tunca and Meriç rivers, gaining insights into the engineering and architectural approaches of the period.
At the Edirne Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, students explored traditional crafts and long‑standing production techniques. At the Bayezid II Health Complex Museum, they learned about the historical use of music and water in healing practices, observing the interdisciplinary role of art in daily life.
The visit also included Üç Şerefeli Mosque, Eski Mosque, where students experienced the connection between the social life, religion, and architecture. The historic atmosphere and local elements of Ali Paşa Bazaar showcased the relation between art, culture, and social life.
Overall, the trip provided an opportunity to examine architecture as an art form and its power to shape societal identities. This comprehensive learning experience enriched students’ aesthetic awareness and deepened their understanding of cultural heritage.
