Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam

Our Grade 11 students visited the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam, where they examined the contributions of Islamic civilization to science and technology. As part of the program, students also visited the grave of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin, whose pioneering work played a key role in bringing this scientific heritage to light and establishing the museum as a significant cultural institution in our country.
In the second stage of the program, students visited the Hagia Sophia Medrese, which is currently used as part of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University campus. As the first medrese established in Istanbul, this historical institution once hosted distinguished scholars such as Ali Kuşçu and Molla Hüsrev. Through this context, students explored the place of the medrese within the history of knowledge and intellectual tradition, gaining insight into how scholarly thought was cultivated and transmitted across generations.
The visit emphasized the importance of intellectual continuity and cultural heritage, encouraging students to see knowledge as part of an ongoing civilizational journey. Through this experience, students strengthened their historical awareness and analytical thinking, while developing a deeper appreciation for the scientific and intellectual legacy of Islamic civilization.
