Seven Beautiful Children Poem Contest & Writing Workshop

Organized by the NUN Schools Turkish Language Department, the Seven Beautiful Children Poem Contest has now become a cherished tradition within our school community. Enriched each year with new layers of literary depth, this platform continues to introduce students’ poetic talents to wider audiences and nurture a new generation of young writers. Beyond being merely a competition, it serves as a comprehensive educational program designed to strengthen students’ technical knowledge while expanding their imagination and symbolic thinking.

Before the final stage of the contest, students who advanced through the qualification round participated in a special workshop series designed to help them put theoretical learning into practice. The sessions were conducted under the mentorship of prominent authors Melike Günyüz, H. Salih Zengin, Melih Tuğtağ, and Elif Akardaş.

Throughout the workshops, students explored the structure of poetry, the construction of imagery, and the fundamentals of creative writing.

These sessions offered students a rare opportunity to look inside the “kitchen” of authorship—allowing them to observe how literary works take shape and enabling them to deepen their artistic and technical understanding. As students gained insight into poetic expression, they also enhanced their literary knowledge and strengthened their writing skills.

By blending students’ artistic expression with elements of cultural heritage, this platform adds lasting value to the intellectual journey of young writers. The Seven Beautiful Children Poem Contest, which brings promising youth together with esteemed literary figures, will continue guiding the development of new talents with its renewed and enriched content each year.
