Educational Model
The educational approach at NÛN High School is meticulously designed to support students' academic and intellectual growth alongside their personal development. Centered around a holistic structure, the educational model implemented as of the 2025-2026 academic year moves away from a fragmented narrative. Instead, it offers a consistent and focused learning journey that evolves progressively from enrollment through graduation.
This model aims to solidify core competencies during the first two years (Grades 9 and 10), providing a robust foundation for informed university and career choices in the final two years (Grades 11 and 12). By harmonizing the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Education (MoNE) curriculum with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, NÛN High School creates a comprehensive learning environment.
Core Competency Years: Grades 9 and 10
The first two years of high school serve as the "Core Competency" years. During this period, students gain a solid academic foundation in the core high school classes while developing essential skills such as critical thinking, academic research, inquiry, and self-expression.
Courses in Turkish Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, English, History, Geography, and Religious Studies are conducted with an approach that integrates MoNE objectives with IB skill sets. Several subjects are taught in English to enhance students' academic bilingualism.
Complementing these are the NÛN102 and Me and Türkiye courses, unique curricula developed by NÛN Schools to deepen students' intellectual world, foster a value-based perspective, and establish interdisciplinary connections.
In these foundational years, education transcends passive learning; through course-completion projects and internal assessments, students analyze, produce, and present information. This process enables students to recognize their individual strengths and realize their academic orientations.
Advanced Proficiency Years: Grades 11 and 12
At the end of Grade 10, students select an academic path aligned with their future career goals and follow this specialized program throughout their final two years. This stage is defined as the "Advanced Proficiency" years.
Students choose between two rigorous pathways:
- The IB Diploma Programme (DP): Students receive an education at international standards, dedicating the majority of their weekly hours to DP courses. The program is further enriched by academic writing, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and personal development studies.
- The YKS Program: For students targeting national universities, the curriculum is strategically organized around domain-specific courses and intensive exam preparation.
The ultimate goal of both programs is to provide a sustainable, conscious, and goal-oriented learning process that empowers students through both compulsory subjects and specialized NÛN courses.
