“From Root to Table” PYP Group – Traditional Sherbet Making

As part of their work on cultural heritage preservation, students from the “From Root to Table” PYP group prepared a traditional Ottoman sherbet. By examining culinary traditions at risk of being forgotten, students brought this heritage to life by offering the sherbet to guests after Friday prayer.
Designed to strengthen cultural continuity and the value of sharing, this activity served as a bridge between past and present. By experiencing elements of intangible cultural heritage and transforming them into a communal interaction, students achieved a lasting academic and cultural gain aligned with the project’s objectives.
